How to remove a “Made with AI” label before you post

“Made with AI” is Meta’s earlier public name for the badge that later showed up as “AI info” on Instagram and Facebook. You do not delete that phrase from a caption. You either prep the image file before upload, or you accept that the app applied a label you cannot reach with an EXIF editor.

Cleans metadata in your browser. SynthID and TrustMark stay in the pixels. A cleaned file does not force Instagram to drop a label.

Do it in the tool, in this order

  1. Drop the JPEG, PNG, or WebP you will actually publish. Try sample only shows what a report looks like.
  2. Set the mode to AI only.
  3. Press Inspect only if you want to look. Press Clean this file to strip. The same press re-scans the result, and the After column is that new scan of the cleaned bytes.
  4. Press Download cleaned image. Upload that file. The name ends in -cleaned.

The name changed. The chip still explains why

In 2024 Meta replaced the broad “Made with AI” wording with AI info, because minor edits such as retouching were picking up industry indicators and getting the stronger label. Some of those lighter cases moved into the post menu. Tap the control that is actually on your post. The detail is supposed to say whether Meta used industry-shared signals (C2PA and IPTC from generators and editors) or a self-disclosure. Cleaning a file addresses the first. It does not withdraw the second.

If you still have the Photoshop or Lightroom file, export with Content Credentials off and Inspect that JPEG or PNG before you Clean. A clear After report is the file to upload. A page that also claims the same click removes SynthID or a whole video is selling a different operation than the still-image metadata report above.

One badge, more than one name

In 2024 Meta talked about a “Made with AI” label on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. Later interface text on many posts shifted toward “AI info”, and the company described a wider net that includes content credentials, its own detection, and creator disclosure. If you are searching remove Made with AI label and your screenshot actually says AI info, you are looking at the same family of badge. The steps below do not change because the words on the chip changed.

Threads and Facebook Feed share that family with Instagram. This page stays on the wording. Surface-specific prep is on Instagram AI Info, Facebook AI Info, and the feed-post walkthrough remove AI info from an Instagram post.

What Meta can read from the file

Content Credentials are the file signal people can actually edit. A JPEG, PNG, or WebP may include a C2PA manifest, XMP that references it, or an IPTC digital source type that says the image is algorithmic media or a composite of it. Photoshop, Firefly, and a number of generators write those tags so a downstream app can show provenance. Strip them in the browser if you do not want the file to carry that manifest, then verify.

Meta has also said it labels when it detects AI, including from industry watermarks, and when you tell the app the content was made with AI. Detection and self-disclosure are not cleaned by deleting APP segments. SynthID sits in pixels. This tool’s after-report will not claim those are gone, because they are not metadata it edits.

Prep a file before you post

1

Export JPEG, PNG, or WebP

Use the final still. HEIC works as is. Skip video. A screenshot of a “Made with AI” chip is not the file that produced the chip.

2

Inspect, then clean provenance

The tool on the homepage and the one below share an engine. AI provenance mode targets C2PA and known AI metadata. Choose strip-all if you also want GPS and camera EXIF removed. Read both reports. The checklist for the chips is how to check photo AI metadata.

3

Upload the cleaned still as new media

A post that already says Made with AI or AI info will keep saying it until you remove that post. Publish the verified file as a new upload. In-app generative edits after that upload start the labeling story over, inside Meta’s app.

Caption, alt text, and the disclosure toggle

Deleting the words “Made with AI” from your caption does nothing to a badge Meta rendered. Alt text is for accessibility. It is not a hidden switch for provenance. If you used the composer’s own control to mark the post as AI, reverse that control in the app. A local metadata strip cannot unsend a disclosure.

Cross-posting to Facebook or Threads publishes the same decision to more than one surface. Clean once, then decide what you disclose in each composer. The possible-versus-not table is can you remove an Instagram AI label. It applies to this badge name as well.

When you should leave the label

Disclosure stays your responsibility. If the image was generated or materially edited with AI, platform rules and, in some places, the law expect you to say so. Stripping Content Credentials so a viewer cannot tell is a misuse of a metadata tool. Use the cleaner to understand and edit file tags, not to disguise the work.

If the badge remains after a clean verify, you are no longer in a “Made with AI metadata” problem. You are in the diagnostic on why Instagram still shows AI info. Stories that reshare an already labeled post are covered in remove an AI label from an Instagram Story.

Camera GPS is a separate layer. A Made with AI file can also contain a map pin. Privacy mode is documented in clean EXIF and AI metadata and on Remove EXIF.

Clean the file, then publish that download

Use the tool above. Download only after the After report matches the tags you meant to remove.

Questions people ask

Is “Made with AI” different from “AI info”?

They are Meta label phrasings for the same kind of badge on Facebook and Instagram. The file-level prep is the same. The wording on the badge is not something you edit in the caption.

Can I remove a Made with AI label that I added myself?

Use Instagram or Facebook’s own disclosure controls if you marked it. Stripping EXIF does not undo a disclosure you submitted in the app.
