Questions
What are C2PA and Content Credentials?
A Content Credential is a signed C2PA manifest stored beside the pixels. It can record the tool, later edits, and whether AI was declared. It is not a pixel watermark. This tool removes the manifest that is inside the file.
Will removing the metadata remove Instagram’s AI info label?
No. Cleaning can remove the C2PA manifest and IPTC AI tags in the file you upload next. It does not guarantee the AI info label is gone. Instagram can also use an invisible watermark in the pixels, or its own detection. This tool does not remove SynthID or TrustMark.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Inspect and clean run in this browser. The image is not uploaded to build the cleaned file. Checkout and restore talk to the payment API and do not send the image.
Which formats are supported?
Still images: JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, and BMP. AVIF comes back as a JPEG, or a PNG when the image is transparent. TIFF may come back as a PNG or a cleaned TIFF. PDFs and Word files have their own pages. Video is not supported.
How much is free, and what does Pro cost?
One image is free in this browser, with no account. The next image needs Pro. Pro is $9.99 one-time. Pro unlocks unlimited images and a batch ZIP. It is not a subscription.
How is this different from ExifTool?
This tool cleans a still image in the browser and then re-scans the download. Nothing is installed, and it does not write a new value into a tag. ExifTool is a command-line application you install.
Does it remove C2PA Content Credentials?
Yes, when the manifest is in the file. AI provenance, EXIF / GPS, and strip-all drop detected C2PA. The After report is a second read of the cleaned bytes.
Does it remove PNG prompt text?
Yes, when that text is in the file. Strip-all removes PNG tEXt, iTXt, and zTXt chunks. AI provenance removes the keys parameters, prompt, and sd-metadata, and leaves ordinary camera EXIF, including GPS, on JPEG, PNG, and WebP.
What do the three clean modes remove?
Strip-all removes every detected EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and C2PA category in the report. AI provenance removes C2PA and known AI tags and leaves ordinary camera EXIF, including GPS, on JPEG, PNG, and WebP. EXIF / GPS removes GPS and camera fields and also drops C2PA.
Does cleaning change the picture?
The tool edits metadata. JPEG, PNG, and WebP keep their image data. A clean HEIC stays a HEIC.
Does it remove GPS?
Yes, in EXIF / GPS mode and in strip-all. AI provenance leaves ordinary camera EXIF, including GPS, on JPEG, PNG, and WebP.
Can I clean a folder?
One image is free. A folder comes back as one ZIP after the Pro unlock.
Do I need to sign up?
No. The free clean runs in this browser with no account. Pro checkout asks for an email. That address is the receipt and the Restore Pro key. It is not an account.
