What their pages list

Read on 6 Oct 2026 from the metadata remover and the pricing page. The remover page and the pricing table do not name the same paid file-size cap.

Metadata2Go This tool
Files Any file type. The remover names photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC), PDFs, Office (DOCX, XLSX), video (MP4, MOV), and audio (MP3, FLAC). It says not every piece of metadata can be detected. JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, and BMP. A PDF up to 100 MB is on the PDF page. Video, Office, and RAW are not opened here.
Free job Free with no account: 5 files in one job, or 10 with a free account, each up to 75 MB. 1 free clean per browser, shared with the PDF and Word pages. Then Unlock Pro, paid once, for unlimited files and a batch ZIP.
Paid The remover page says a paid plan goes up to 8 GB. The pricing table lists Free as Limited, Starter and Pro at 64 GB, and Business as Custom. Credits a month: Starter 480, Pro 2,800, Business 10,000. Monthly or yearly (the page says yearly saves 16%). 14-day money-back. Extra user €5 a month. Students and educators can apply to use the paid tools free. One payment on the pricing page. It does not renew and it does not use a credit meter.
Content credentials The FAQ says generators write into the same fields a camera uses, and the app removes metadata it detects. A content credential or an invisible watermark is not metadata, and the app does not touch either. Strip-all removes detected EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and C2PA / AI metadata, then the After report re-scans the cleaned bytes. AI only can leave camera EXIF. SynthID stays in the pixels.
Where the file goes You upload it. Processing runs on servers in Europe under a signed data processing agreement. The page says the pipeline is automated, nobody reads or copies the files, they are not used to train AI models, and you keep the copyright. That page does not state a deletion time. The file stays in this browser. It is not uploaded to build the cleaned copy.
Editing The remover page links a separate Edit Metadata tool for fields in PDFs, images, or audio. The remover itself has 0 settings. Does not write tags back.

When to choose which

When Metadata2Go is the better choice

  • The file is video, audio, Office, or another type this page does not open.
  • You want to edit a field, not only remove a set of them.
  • You want several files in one free job, or the larger paid file size and credit plans.
  • You are a student or educator and their pricing page’s free-tools offer applies to you.

When this page is the better choice

  • The file has to stay on the device. Nothing is uploaded to build the cleaned copy.
  • The job is a C2PA / content-credential manifest. Their FAQ says they do not touch that.
  • You want the After report to re-scan the cleaned bytes before you download.
  • You want one payment for unlimited files and a batch ZIP, rather than a credit subscription.

How to clean a file here

Photos use the tool above. A PDF uses remove metadata from a PDF, which shares the same one free clean.

  1. Add the image. Use the tool on this page. Add one JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, or BMP. A PDF is cleaned on the PDF page linked below.
  2. Pick a mode. Leave All metadata selected, or switch to AI only (camera EXIF can stay) or EXIF/GPS.
  3. Clean. Before a file is chosen the button reads Clean one file free. After one image is added it reads Clean this file. Press it.
  4. Read the After report. The report re-scans the cleaned bytes. Download when the rows you cared about are gone. A pixel watermark such as SynthID stays in the picture.
