What their pages list

Read on 6 Oct 2026 from the viewer and the strip page. Both say a local file stays on the device.

exif.tools This tool
Viewer Free online EXIF and metadata viewer. Local files stay in the browser, including a full ExifTool scan. Any file type: images, PDFs, documents, audio, video, and archives. It shows EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, ICC, document metadata, hashes, and magic bytes, and it can export JSON. A pasted link is fetched directly, then through proxy.cors.sh if needed. GPS photos load an OpenStreetMap map. The tool above strips. A separate viewer page reads a still image in the browser.
Strip limits Cleanup starts on its own. PNG, JPEG, and WebP up to 256 MB. Other image formats up to 8 MB. The strip page does not name HEIC. One image or one PDF at a time. JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, and BMP. No published megabyte cap. A file the browser cannot decode is refused, including one over roughly 100 megapixels. A PDF up to 100 MB is on the PDF page.
What strip removes Images: supported metadata such as camera details, location, and comments. If an image is re-encoded, the result says so. PDFs: document properties, dates, identifiers, and embedded metadata. Pages, text, forms, links, comments, and attachments stay. Writing on the page is not erased. Rewriting a PDF invalidates a digital signature. Detected EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, and C2PA / AI metadata, then an After re-scan. AI only can leave camera EXIF. SynthID stays in the pixels. The PDF page re-scans too, and it reports comments and attachments rather than removing them.
C2PA The strip page does not name C2PA. The viewer’s origin section shows recorded claims, says they are not a verified signature, and links to an external content-credentials check. It also says ExifTool metadata cannot detect SynthID. Strip-all and AI only both target C2PA metadata this tool detects. The pixels are not redrawn.
Price The viewer and the strip page do not list a price or an account. The strip page can also add or update a PDF title, author, description, and keywords. 1 free clean per browser, shared with the PDF and Word pages. Then Unlock Pro, paid once, for unlimited files and a batch ZIP. This page does not write tags back.
